Figs are delicious treats that also give the body a dose of calcium, essential for bone health. They also contain potassium which helps maintain healthy blood pressure. Removes Arthritic Pain: figs, like pineapple ( bromelain) and papaya (papain), have an important sulphur compound called ficin, which is valuable in the treatment of chronic joint inflammation and swelling of soft tissues common to rheumatoid arthritis and traumatic injuries, such as a twisted ankle or pulled muscle ligaments.
In a culinary uses of figs we can use them in salad, entree, dessert, shake, jams, tea etc..
I used the fig in this recipe as a salad:
Ingredients: romaine salad, sesame seed, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, black pepper, balsamic vinegar, fig, ground cherry, fresh mint.
We can serve this salad with a piece of salmon, chicken breast, shrimp, lobster, scallops, sardines. For a vegan person we can add any kind of beans with avocado and a choice of your favorite grain, pistachio and some seeds as chia, flax, pumpkin or sunflower .
